Verdantas, funded by the U.S. Department of Energy, conducted studies to improve fish passage for silver American Eels at hydropower projects. The aim was to develop cost-effective and biologically sound bypass systems. Our Flow Labs team evaluated two modular systems through laboratory and field tests in New Hampshire, alongside computational modeling. We assessed their suitability for eel passage and potential economic benefits. Collaboration with Lakeside Engineering and Blue Leaf Environmental enhanced the project. This comprehensive approach aimed to optimize bypass design and operation for efficient eel passage.
